I hope everyone's having a glorious 4th! I spent mine attempting to stay cool. Another hot one at 95 -- though not 105, thank goodness!
Last night as I enjoyed the beauty of the star-filled sky, I thought much about the grandness of God. How anyone can think that this world just happened to construct itself out of nothingness with no assistance from God, must have little respect for the complexity of life. I feel sorry for those who have to rely on scientific fallacy as the basis of their existence. But we are all free to choose, so I know that some will continue to choose the "big bang theory" or swamp gasses, or whatever other nonsense exists.
As for me, there is never a doubt that God is here and has set everything in motion. Look at the perfection of a baby -- 10 fingers, 10 toes, a cute button nose, the works. If things just randomly put themselves together, we'd never know what form every new baby would take. Yes, there are chromosomes and DNA to explain things, but only a brilliant God could have created the mechanisms in the first place.
So what does this have to do with the 4th of July? I realized last night that God is driving this country, whether we know it or not. Yes, there are a bunch of bullies on the bus, but He's still here. He is happy to bless us when we ask and seek Him. He is willing to sit back and just drive the bus while we tear each other apart too, if that's what we so choose. As for me, I would like to see "God Bless America" mean just that again. But if I can't get everyone on board with that, at least I can say, "Please, God, Bless Me" and move to the front of the bus, where bullies tend to avoid. In my old school days, I learned that lesson well. Stick to the front of the bus and God will keep an eye on me. That's where I want to be.
God bless me. God bless you. And God Bless America!
